The difference is between comedy music, which can be deliberately bad for effect, and genuinely out of tune, poorly played music, which can also be funny and therefore good.
The Portsmouth Sinfonia actually tried their best, though as they could hardly play the instruments it was always going to turn out like that.
That's why they can go in and the Bonzos can't.
Also Strach Zarathustra is good, the best is the Willam Tell Overture, which I can't seem to find, unforunately.
