No it ain't.
He's scracthed an intricate pattern of lines into the plastic. The light bounces off points where the lines intersect.
It bounces off of different points depending on the angle from which it's viewed...yet still forms the same shape...and thusly gives the illusion of depth as it moves.
Clever.
