There was a miniseries called 'The Lost Room'
that sounds like the kind of thing you were after with this. Check it out it was not too bad.

It was on the Sci Fi channel I think
Basically about a motel room that gets lost in time after some event. If people find the door to it and enter it they can close it and 'move' the room somewhere else then open the door and leave.
When they leave and shut the door the room resets itself to its initial state it was in when the event happened in the 60's. Anything left in there from the outside vanishes. So this guy tries to study the objects and artifacts in the room to try and find out more about it and what happened.

That was brilliant...
I wish they'd made it into a series, though. They set it up as one, with the number of objects, but it never happened. :(

I kind of go the other way.
This was I was able to get the full thing (meaning they knew this was all they were making for now) without waiting 4 or 5 years and wondering which, if any UK channel would pick up the series or cancel it as soon as it got into it's stride.
