This is a normal post Yep, SciFi in space, like the cartoon Bravestar ;o)
Some episodes drag a little, but they were only just finding their feet. The cast chemistry was good. The movie version tied up the ends nicely, but it could have been so much more with more time.

This is a normal post Beg to differ...
...it's not a Sci-Fi in space, it's a western in space. It's your favourite cowboy series from your childhood, it just happens to be set in space in the future. And everyone speaks Mandarin. Don't worry.
I don't feel that any of the episodes dragged - I feel that each one was a masterpiece. And the film was epic and I can't watch it without crying at least three times. And ho doesn't enjoy shouting "Ni ta ma de tien xia suo yuo de ren dou gai xi" when things go a bit wrong?

This is a normal post I managed to get Firefly and Serenity into a Film exam answer on westerns
dealing with manifest destiny and such like.. think i might have even mentioned Easy Rider aswell, I may have been pushing the boundaries of what you can call a western a bit, got a good mark though..

This is a normal post No,
It's fine.

The Western genre sometimes portrays the conquest of the wilderness and the subordination of nature in the name of civilization or the confiscation of the territorial rights of the original inhabitants of the frontier.

Now, tell me that doesn't apply to the terraforming of the new worlds, and the Alliance...

This is a normal post ^this^
We took a mate who had never seen Firefly to see Serenity at the pictures and there's enough exposition (and very cleverly done) that it doesn't matter if you've never seen the series. He loved the film and immediately went out to buy the series because he needed to see more of the 'verse!

And I know it's naughty to suggest - but it's fairly trivial to get the Divx rips of the show. I own three copies of the film - standard DVD, super duper amazing DVD and HD-DVD version.

To me, it's the most important television show ever,

This is a normal post They had an absolute gem on their hands and they sold it down the river (not tam :( )
The only reasons some of the episodes seemed to drag I think it's because of how short the entire thing ended up being. Some of the episodes were more filler/one shots that get peppered around to give the overall plot time to breath but they didn't get a chance to do a full series. So you have some of the slower change of pace episodes that introduce a few things here and there that never get developed, and end up seeming slow in comparison to the episodes that did move things along.

This is a normal post So do I!
...and it was a present from my mother!!

I couldn't name my favourite episode. Probably "Shindig" or "Our Mrs. Reynolds". Least favourite would probably be "War Stories" and "Objects in Space" but that's not to say I dislike them - I just don't love them as much as the other ones.

This is a normal post Jubal Early!
I really liked 'Objects in Space'. I'd probably say that was my fave along with 'Our Mrs.Reynolds' or 'Out of Gas'. It's the same thing though. I can safely say I enjoyed every episode, and although it's only a short series I enjoyed it more consistantly from episode to episode than any other series I've watched, regardless of genre.

Would have loved to see Early brought back as a reoccuring villian is if had gone the distance. But no Fox fucked it.

Am I lion? I don't think of myself as a lion. You might as well though, I have a mighty roar...
