By the sounds of that blog, you went to Leicester square!
London has so much to offer and is one of the greatest cities in the world, I know a lovely little pub where you can sit on the rivers edge and watch the sun go down and the lights come up across the skyline, while still only paying chain pub prices for drinks.
That said, i also know parts of town where you can catch several great victorian diseases and be fleeced for some of the finest replicas of a phone box in the world! Ah the good old days!
