this is really good but the one thing that puts me off of these things is the smooth side to side camera movement.

Yes!
I have recently started using after effects' own automated camera 'wiggle'. I used to hold a camera and transfer the movements to my video. I didn't think anyone would notice. Now you have, I shall be going back to the old method. Pronto.
