I'm in two minds on footballers pay
on one side they generate lots of revenue via sponsors/TV/gates so good luck to them. On the other hand most appear to be absolute ape-like fuckwits who struggle to connect two words into a sentence and would probably knife you if you walked towards them on the street.

Judging by the current slew of scandals all over the news,
I'd say you'd be terribly lucky if a knife was all they slipped into you...

Exactly
No-one in the football world gets paid shitloads unless it worth it to the club. Even if it means sticking them on a bench to stop other teams getting hold of them.

Hmm
I wonder how many football clubs are really profitable as a business. I can't believe they can really support the total costs of the club, particularly with such salaries. I can only assume they are loss leaders for some other revenue-generating activities, or serve as handy fiscal mechanisms for reducing overall tax liability somewhere else.

If the cash didn't go to them it'd go to shareholders/owners
then again, if they didn't earn so much it wouldn't cost fans nearly a grand for a season ticket. I'm off to have a big argument with myself now

At least most high paid footballers live in the UK and pay tax on it
