At a guess, a mixture of dead skin flakes, sweat and an inability to find a sponge on a stick long enough to get rid of either.

However after watching the rest of the prog I've come to the conclusion that it's urea crystals. He has to piss in a bucket standing up with his gut trailing in the feculence. I'm off for a shower.
