I also remember a truly awesome science teacher called Miss Penfold (i think) who got hold of some lithium, placed the giant petri dish thingy with water in it ON TOP OF the overhead projector, then put drops of food colouring in and projected the trippy whizzing around lithium on the classroom wall.
it was awesome, best science teacher ever. Though she failed to teach me what the name of the big glass petri thingy is actually called.
Also the day before a "meet the teachers" parents evening she accidentally set fire to her classroom ceiling with magnesium powder.

My sister is a science teacher, I'll suggest that she do this (if they even have overhead projectors these days).
