This is a normal post I actually think he's playing a role
He takes the moral low ground on every interview and tries to justify his unjustifiable actions with the zeal of the truly deluded - he's like a caricature of an evil,drunken sleazy journalist from a trash novel.
I've just had a look at his twitter account (@PaulMc_NOTW)and he replies to almost every jibe with an 'amusing' comment that further enhances his seedy persona - the man is filled with self hate.

This is a normal post I thought watching Newsnight that he is the kind of character Steeve Coogan could play well.

I'd have put that as a parody, but in his case it's hard to distinguish.
