It's not the first time this has happened.
I saw something similar in a shop window in Seymour Grove in Manchester about 20 years ago. I wonder if the typo had the same impact before disco was invented?

Disco was invented in the 1940s
so I expect the sign you saw about 20 years ago would have had the same impact.
