30 years ago, my mother introduced me to a scary and humorous short story.
It involved a man returning to his apartment, picking up a misaddressed package at his door, and making a note to return it to the post office the next day. The package contained a special shipment of toy army men which gained sentience and autonomy - and was equipped with its own scale tactical nuclear weapon.
If anything, seeing this demonstration is scarier.

Thanks muchly!
Stephen King's novels have always been a letdown for me, but his short stories are outstanding. He should stick to the short format.
