They're pretty sure that it's the Higgs particle...
It's whether or not it fits the Boson side of things that remains uncertain, as I understand it...

no I mean
if it's called the Higgs Boson, he has most definitely given his name to it, whether they have just found it or not. He hasn't given his name to what they have just found.
But now the sciencey bit. It's definitely a boson of some sort. They don't yet know if it's a Spin 0 (scalar) Boson, which is what the Higgs boson is supposed to be.
