I hear you but...
...the "yesterday some hooligans knocked over a dustbin in Shaftesbury" always makes me laugh. I get the feeling he was aware of his poor accent skills and hammed them up intentionally.
I still think his comedy hasn't aged that well, but at the time he was very refreshing.
