unless it was cartoons or images shopped to make them into abuse images then anyone watching genuine child sexual abuse images is quite complicit in the sexual abuse of children.
i'm not personally convinced that watching abuse images would decrease the likihood of the viewer abusing children but like you say it's plausible and the evidence isn't that clear either way.

Plus you'd run the risk of desensitising yourself to that level of "make do" porn.
I remember when porn was just fannies and any cocks had to be hidden behind a black bar. And you had to find it in hedgerows.

i think there's anecdotal evidence from child sex offenders to support that view.
and yes internet porn changed everything. aside from all the mad types of porn available i wonder about teens and preteens accessing porn much much more easily than we did and the fact they are getting the bulk of their sex ed/socialisation as to what constitutes normal or average sex from porn.
it makes older brothers seem like they were a comparitively knowledgable and reliable source of sexual information...
