I rather got the impression
that was more of a "where's your uniform" kind of question. I.e: If you're not interested in buying, don't waste my time.
Still, if he wanted to see some of this stuff, he didn't have to go to Jordan, he could easily have just gone to Farnborough.

I was gonna say
not all those interested in buying have to be wearing uniforms, especially not when it comes to western governments where our militaries are usually headed by civilians (e.g. MOD).
Then I remembered the sort of governments Norinco is probably selling to and remembered that even the civilian politicians like to wear military uniform.
So yeah, I think you have a point. Still, couldn't have hurt to play the part a bit more, could it? Theremin's post further down is fantastic when it comes to that; should probably be posted as its own link, methinks. Hilarious in a very uncomfortable way.
