This is a normal post Indeed...
...using areas geographically suited to producing energy (be it wind, solar, wave, geothermic or hydroelectric) and dedicating them entirely to the production of hydrogen is the way forward I think. While it may not be as efficient as using the electricity directly, it does mean other areas not suited to utilising the natural environment can benefit.

Just need to figure out a way to store and transport it safely...

...seem to offer a decent solution to storing and transporting hydrogen at low pressure.
