I find most instructional videos pretty awful
Mainly showing off and too fast to see what's going on. I'd recommend a book called 'Speed mechanics for lead guitar' I you're interested. I'm still barely starting on it but the exercises are great for making your fingers work indepedently.

I know what you mean
Showing off and all that. I think that teaching yourself is the best way. At least your own style comes through a whole lot more. I only like playing acoustic really.

I thought myself too
But this book is great for making your fingers work independently etc. Still, individuality is the way forward I guess.
