I was a huge fan of Firefly
Still rate it as one of the best Sci-Fi series made. Serenity though was an extended TV episode that couldn't decide if it was going to cater to just the existing fans, or to open it all up to a new audience. As a result the dialogue (the greatest strength of the series) just descends into trite exposition at times. Then there's the fast-cutting style in the action shots that just end up baffling you as things aren't on screen long enough to recognise them or connect them to the previous shot.
One of the finest Sci Fi movies ever made? Only if you're compiling a long list...

firefly was hands down, fantastic. Serenity, was good. great in parts, as a fan i loved it. and also was upset at parts. as a stand alone film not sure where it would be on my list of all time great scifi. but i still enjoy it.
