30 years ago, someone did.
My print copy is long gone, but the May '79 issue of Skateboarder magazine featured a trip into the desert in search of abandoned missile bases and their access and cooling tunnels, some of which exceeded 30' in diameter. I recall the cover featuring a shot of someone taking the long drop from the desert floor to the floor of the pipe. Sadly the magazine fell on changing times and attempted to reinvent itself a year later to cover action sports in general and folded a year after that.
