This is a normal post Good one - clear demonstration that you need specialist equipment for lithium fires
I do battery safety testing for a living. I've only ever seen one lithium based battery cook off, and have poor video footage of another instance.
I've got a nice safe nickel battery to abuse today. Still, it's in the bomb box, and inside the fire cabinet.

It's a mobility scooter battery, and we were doing a rapid discharge fault. The battery starts venting right at the beginning of the test. We were videoing the test because the paperwork for the battery was dodgy as fuck, and no-one wanted to be in the same room as it.

I'd be interested in what it was venting, as I don't think there's much water in there, burning polyester?

This is a normal post Nasty gases? They must be bad, as they let the fire out after them.
Dunno TBH, I'll ask my topic expert colleague.

So was that a pass or a fail?

This is a normal post If the fire gets outside of the equipment enclosure, that's not a pass.
So fail.

I use this video in training sessions now.
