Isn't "end of quote" something you can legitimately say?
Like "close brackets".

Isn't it good form that when you are yakking and quote someone you notify the audience as to when the quoted yakking stops and your yakking begins?

Also, it prevents people saying that you're claiming someone else's words as your own.
