What file type are you adding? Are you dragging and dropping or choosing the file from the file system? Are you dragging the image from the OS or from a browser?

Sorry. I have not been able to replicate that issue using ddg in Vivaldi. Are there any errors in the console log?

Kind of.
I get to the next stage, at least. The result of my experiment was shite though. Weirdly rectangular cropped face minus mouth, minus top of head, plus semi transparent nonsense either side.
