I remember seeing that
with a live band playing along.
I found it really hard to stay awake, even though I wasn't bored - it was just weirdly hypnotic.

I've never been able to watch 2001: A Space Odyssey in its entirety.
I'm sure I've subconsciously conditioned myself to fall asleep whilst watching it now, like some kind of really unhelpful self-hypnosis.
I definitely don't find the film boring, what I've seen of it is beautiful. But I'll be out like a light within 45 minutes of the first act.

So you've never seen the ending where Hal becomes manifest as a really hot lady and gets it on with Dr Bowman creating a race of super humans?
That's a real shame because the sex scene is truely a visual masterpiece.
