Not really, no.

Not that the pope can talk anyway - religion has claimed more human lives, and often in far more nasty ways than every disease, civil/international dispute and too-big-for-its-boots social or political movement that ever existed. Moreover, christianity until relatively recently was the world fucking leader on that score for centuries. They'd still be officially 'for' it now if they thought they could get away with it.
