True story, man who had very successful bar and nightclub went off the rails. License taken away. Man goes to Crown Court to have license renewed. The chap who owned the club in question here..
...his son was a former fire investigation chap for the fire brigade. Every five or so years, when the place was looking particularly shabby there'd be an 'electrical fire' and he'd used the insurance money to refit the place completely.

The only thing that saddens me with that is given that fire sprinkler systems are so good at doing
the job. Why in this country is the fitting of fire sprinkler systems (FSS) not compulsory in public buildings*.
