Did Superman get paid?
Obviously he got paid by the Daily Planet but, for the hard graft of being Superman and saving the world in less than 30 mins including commercial breaks every week did anyone front up a few bucks for a beer and the bus fare home? And if not, did the people of Metropolis get a tax break due to the reduced cost in law enforcement and rescue services?

he only needs a bus when he's batting an asteroid back into space
and beer? he secretly drills holes in the back of liquor stores with his laser eyes. Anyone who sees him gets made to forget.

Everyone on Krypton knew him as a complete piss head, but we all know what happened there.

YEah
But the tax breaks are offset by higher insurance costs caused by death rays and the occasional invasion of killer robots.
