I seem to remember being told that he conducted the band with his limbs, and that he would fine band members for cocking up.Hence the "I gotcha!" in Sex Machine(?) (I can't remember which track) is actually him telling the drummer off because he was slightly late in his timing.
Or something.

His autobiography makes interesting readingI think that is true, all the nice touches people thought he was putting in were a code to the band.By all accounts he was a masive asshole, ripped off lesser artists and creaked when he walked but still fucking brilliant. He played Reading about 6-7 years ago. Did a 15 minte version of sex machine and hardly left the stage, great to see him before he popped his clogs.
