distanceif you had a chance to see the beheaded bird in the mirror in front of the van then mister white van man was keeping quite a lot of distance. close is when all you can see is his grill with his windshield obscured by the edge of your rear window.

It was a 40 limit road, the normal gap between cars is ment to be two seconds, he was only about one second behind, which afforded me a glance at the body, before van man hit it.
