Greyhounding
was one of the most disturbing experiences I've ever had. The proportion of mad people to sane people on the buses is very high. I'd chosen mostly overnight bus trips to avoid paying for accomodation so perhaps I got what I deserved. One particular night a passenger got up and delivered a 4 hour monologue on the perils of nuclear power. The driver seemed quite happy with this: maybe it kept him awake.

I never saw a weapon, and the drivers were very strict about now drugs or alcohol on board, but plenty of weird, smelly people, the occasional attempted rape and some of the strangest conversations I've ever had. Dogging with local fat people would have been positively boring in comparison.
