What they should beIs buckwheat pancakes which have yeast added so they rise. Serve with sour cream, caviare and freezing vodka as a starter. Do this as a starter and no-one cares what the rest of the food is like.

Oh it isReally georgeous. And if caviare is too rich for your purse, lumpfish is not so very different. Especially once the vodka neutralises your taste buds.
In fact Waitrose sell blinis in the chilled section and they aren't too bad if lazy/crap at baking. Look a bit like mini crumpets.
