Damn you, mother nature!
I have a weird sense of smell - the equivalent of colour blindness. That means I only smell some things weakly, and some not at all.

One thing I'm poor at smelling is "off" smells. So if I'm dubious about the milk in the fridge, I can only check it by tasting it.

And yes, I taste perfectly fine, thank you very much. Grrr...

As I can't smell or taste whether milk is off I've been known to drink it rancid in tea or coffee,
not noticing anything strange until I came to the lumps at the bottom of the cup.

My kids reckon that if the milk is sour I sniff it and say 'Nothing wrong with that!' and drink it straight down. I think they have over-sensitive noses.

In pregnancy though I could never drink yesterday's milk. It had to be cow-fresh or I found it sour.

Milk, eh. Funny stuff.
