This is a question Blood

Like a scene from The Exorcist, I once spewed a stomach-full of blood all over a charming nurse as I came round after a major dental operation. Tell us your tales of red, red horror.

Top tip: Cold objects on the base of the neck at the back help stop a nosebleed
Just thought I'd mention this. Haven't tried it myself, but one way of helping stop a nosebleed is to place a cold metal object (like a key or an entire keyring’s worth of keys) in the fridge and when it's cooled down, place it at the base of the neck on the back (or just below that - perhaps the top of the spine). This is supposed to make the body think it’s gone colder outside and this is supposed to reduce bloodflow.

Just thought I’d share that.

I imagine
running the cold tap over the inside of your wrists might achieve a similar effect.

cools me down when I'm too hot anyway

As a person
That suffers regulary from serious nosebleeds I can inform you it does not usually work. never has for me anyhoo, a tampon up each nostril works wonders though. :o)

The top of the spine
is supposed to act as some sort of body-temperature regulator. Not sure if the wrists do that as well, but the wrists are where the veins are close to the skin so it does cool you down.

Surely...
...by the time the keys had cooled in the fridge, the bleeding would have stopped?

if not, I suppose you'd be too unconscious to care.
