If you can't fix it with a hammer and a roll of duck tape, it's not worth fixing at all, my old mate said minutes before that nasty business with the hammer and a roll of duck tape. Tell us of McGyver-like repairs and whether they were a brilliant success or a health and safety nightmare.

It turned out a total mess, however it got spotted by an arty guy walking past and ended up being hailed as a modern-art masterpiece!
I also tried to make the wife a spice rack but that's another story.

reminds me of the time my toaster broke. Not being fooled into buying a new one, i spent an entire night fixing it. However, when it was finished, rather than delivering hot, tasty bready goodness, it in fact, sent me back in time. Then things just get complicated...
Good thing I remembered the advice from my dad on my wedding day though
