If you can't fix it with a hammer and a roll of duck tape, it's not worth fixing at all, my old mate said minutes before that nasty business with the hammer and a roll of duck tape. Tell us of McGyver-like repairs and whether they were a brilliant success or a health and safety nightmare.

sometimes you just have to let it go, like at 3am when water's running down the walls. otherwise it's just cunty. my normal place of work is someone's home and i treat it accordingly, rispek and ting.
being qualified (gas safe for example) is not necessarily an indicator of being a quality tradesperson, just evidence that the HSE will acknowledge you are competent in the event of an explosion. being a member of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heat Engineers however is a much clearer sign of craft skills.
I take real pride in my work, I wish a few more did (but i'm glad they don't cos it earns me good money! and there's nothing quite like an incompetent idiot to make you look good!!!).
