Well saidThat book was fucking shite.
And the worst thing was that it was the first time I had ever managed to have any kind of literary conversation with a large section of my aquaintainces. I suspect that it was the first time they had read a book and thus all thought it was great.
And they all looked terribly upset when I cut their praises to shreds by slagging off every single aspect of the book. Especially the most atrociously worded dialogue I have ever had the misfortune to read.
Did they take up my suggestions of anything that might be slightly better to read. Did they fuck - went back to reading the daily fucking mail and fucking internet forums... (oh, wait)
Its still down there as the single worst book I have ever read (coming in just below a Jilly Cooper I read in teh midst of a storm off the east anglian coast in a terrifyingly under equipped yacht).
And one of the most annoying periods of in recent history. Even my MUM (who's just got a 1st from the Open University) has loads of 'cracking the Da Vinci Code' type books lying about.
Gah.
