This is a question This book changed my life

The Goat writes, "Some books have made a huge impact on my life." It's true. It wasn't until the b3ta mods read the Flashman novels that we changed from mild-mannered computer operators into heavily-whiskered copulators, poltroons and all round bastards in a well-known cavalry regiment.

What books have changed the way you think, the way you live, or just gave you a rollicking good time?

Friendly hint: A bit of background rather than just a bunch of book titles would make your stories more readable

You can tell when you haven't been reading enough books and have spent too much time online when you start coming up with shit like this.

*Sings*
Someone's got too much time on their hands.

Busy day at the office?

Not really.
I shot that over the weekend- I was out exploring and saw that little sign and instantly came up with the above. After giggling at myself for being such a geek I took the picture, and just remembered that I hadn't posted it yet.

So there ya go.

I've SEEN these logos!
Long Fence is HUGE up here too! In fact, I HATE them because my Brother's buddies (twins) own a fencing company that competes with them in this region!

Small world isnt it? Long Fence must cordon off a pretty sizeable piece of that small world!

:)

Cheers,

Sean

I had never really looked before.
This was taken at an entrance onto Rte 288. There's a small family cemetery behind the fence that I had seen from the highway, so I walked up to get a closer look. As I did so I saw this sign and thought "Long Fence is looooooong" (in case you haven't encountered it before, it's a lolcat meme- "Longcat is looooooooong".)

It's stupid and entirely too geeky, but there ya go.

Erm!
Do the short fences have 'Short Fence' on them?

Only if
a family named Short had a business installing them, I would think...

A question: if family names like Tailor or Baker came from an ancestor who had that profession and names like Little or Long came about because of a family characteristic of some sort, where did the name Hancock come from?

Your not the only one that can use google..
The boy's name Hancock \ha-nco-ck, han-cock\ is of Old English origin. May possibly relate to poultry. Bostonian patriot John Hancock was the first man to sign the Declaration of Independence. His name is now used for a huge insurance conglomerate and an ultra-modern glass building in downtown Boston.

Hancock has 1 variant form: Handcock.

Hancock is a very rare male first name and a very popular surname (source: 1990 U.S. Census).

Edit. Yes I know you were joking.

Right.
So if your family name was derived from an ancestor's wanking habit, wouldn't you be likely to change your name? I think I would...
