Books
We love books. Tell us about your favourite books and authors, and why they are so good. And while you're at it - having dined out for years on the time I threw Dan Brown out of a train window - tell us who to avoid.

Haven't read a lot lately,
But when I do find a good book I tend to go on a mission to find all of that authors books. The last two were David Gemmel and Conn Iggulden. Brilliant, the kind of books that make you want to go back in time.

if there is one thing you do this year you must......
I really enjoyed reading the books by Colin Iggulden and David Gemmel and have pretty much read all of their books.
If you like their work you really should get hold of the Alexander trilogy by Valerio Massimo Manfredi. Brilliant books, very well written and translated, hugely entertaining, well researched and like both Colin and David he pastes a bit of fiction and story telling into fact and history.
That trilogy turned me onto books about historical figures and classical times. I cannot recommend them enough.

I have read one by Manfredi, and I remember it being a goody.
Thanks for reminding me.
