Anne McCaffreyI loved her books during teenagerness, must've read most of the Pern books at least 3 times. I will admit that her later efforts tailed off a bit, but the earlier stuff is brilliant. The first two Pern books (Dragonflight and Quest) are my particular favourites, the first two I read. There is so much more tension, and they seem far more vivid. Later books still hold up as space opera romps, but they get a bit contrived and cosy. Restoree is pretty good too, though been a while since I read it.

I loved them too - I've still got the full collection of Pern books. I also started to re-read Restoree over C'mas. I think the last time I picked it up was over 15 years ago (aiee!). It's still great!
