Sodding systems
Where i work we use BT for out phones and internet.

I personally dislike BT for their terrible service. They are over priced and under spec'd. I moved into a house where they went thru BT for internet 2 meg connecttion (for a bout 20 minutes) with a 5GB restriction for the £24.99 a month SHITE!!! I digress.

As i said we use them at work. And have been cut off more times than i care to count because they have numerous systems that don't speak to each other and say different things. Idiots. The most recent one was when the internet went down, as i am the IT monkey (it is a restaurant as i know what USB means i know manage the IT side of things) i phoned them up. Automated system ask for lots of details and then the human asks for them again, why!!. The most recent flaunt was the transformer for the hub/router/wifi had given up the ghost, they were going to send out a whole new wifi/router/hub.... i had a spare.

TBH the people on the otherside of the phone are nice people, the hardware they use is what lets them down.

Sorry to Hijack:
Aah, BT. Anyone else think their latest "20 meg" adverts are a load of, at best, misleading crap?

It doesn't matter how fast your link to the exchange is, it still won't speed up the rest of the internet. The only way their advert makes sense is if they're admitting their existing connections are inadequate. They could simply improve the existing exchange equipment and reduce the contention ratio; but then that might eat into their obscene profits*.

Here's the kicker: BT have previously made complaints about Talktalk adverts**.

* £272m pre-tax profits for the 2nd quarter of 2009. Apparently this is exceptionally low, it was £497m in the similar part of 2008. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8176033.stm

BT
I have always disliked them. I had the misfortune to use them when i was a student and swore to never go back. Alas i moved into a house share that already had them so i had no choice.

They piss me off royally. I have been with Telewest, UKonline and Virgin (current) all have been sooo much better. I hate the fact they over charge for a poor service. My mate was with Telewest, their DNS went down so he phoned into see what was happening and got a record message "Please check our website for information" He was like "erm... i can't it is down". Another time he was told by 3 different departments that the error laid with one of the other ones. Only down for a couple of hours.

If BT were smart they would super invest in upgrading their intrastructure during the recession, when workers are cheaper also creating more job. But that is just my opinion.

HiJack away :P.

BT make me angry.

Don't suppose you know a good ISP/Phone provider for a small business? Would need at least 2 lines. In london town
