Similar thing happened to me (something for another question)...but the best thing is you've got a Get Out Of Jail Free card for LIFE. Every time I do anything to piss my mum off, I just say: "Sure, but remember the time you left me stranded?" and she caves. 30 years later and she still cringes, apologises and forgives whatever I've done.
