With most modern carsthe brake will override the accelerator, so you will not get any power.
Takes away all the fun!

Drop it into third, or second if needed,and just dump the clutch.
Or one my mum taught me, pull away till they can see your rear lights, as they speed up to prevent the ingress of any fag papers, flick your side lights on. They automatically think they're brake lights and pull back!
