It works the other way too...
A mate of mine, not particularly good looking bloke but entertaining, hit upon the idea years ago that women are often just as sick of the dance of flirting as we are and decided from that point on if he was out and enjoying a girl's company he's just cut to the chase and ask if they fancied a shag. And although there were the inevitable shocked knockbacks, he started getting a lot of yesses too.
He still does, the smug bastard.
