This is a question Cheap Tat

OneEyedMonster remindes us about the crap you can buy in pound shops: "Batteries that lasted about an hour and then died. A screwdriver with a loose handle so I couldn't turn the damn screw, and a tape measure which wasn't at all accurate."

Similarly, my neighbour bought a lawnmower from Argos that was so cheap the wheels didn't go round, it sort of skidded over the grass whilst gently back-combing it.

What's the cheapest, most useless crap you've bought?

PC World buy their USB cables for 49p....
Because we used to get ours from the same place.
Another good place for USB (or any computer)cables is small independant computer shops.
PC World will flog you a cheap printer for 30 quid then want an extra tenner for a 50p cable. Total rip off. I remember laughing at the prices of things like SATA cables, memory, and general PC components.

Still its a good store for wasting time at lunch and browsing round. Its also a great store for overhearing the numpties trying to flog PCs and getting all the details wrong.
And of course, you have to go into PC world and ask if they have any macs.
