Anton LaVeyalso plagiarised the better part of it almost verbatim from previous occult authors. If I remember correctly, he lifted the principal moral tenet,"Do what you will." verbatim from Aleister Crowley. Surely, no worse than the bilge you find in The Bible itself, and at least LaVey was kind enough to make it more than a 1000 pages more brief.
