I don't understand the attractionSmaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

I've done karaoke in China.....and it's a completely different and much more pleasant experience.
A group of friends, maybe up to a dozen, in a private room, playing games and drinking beer and eating nibbles, taking it in turns with the microphone to gently croon away whilst lounging around on the sofas - completely uncompetitive, no OMGLOOKATME attitude and a very social and convivial experience.
Karaoke is being done wrong if there's a stage and/or strangers involved. That's just Amateur Talent Night and therefore shit.
