I don't understand the attractionSmaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

I never mentioned drinking in front of the tv...I said that I prefer to invite my friends over to my place to have a drink and a chat, rather than do so in a pub.
Meanwhile my 'local' (if you can call it so since I visit it maybe 5 times a year, but never mind) is indeed a very nice pub by all standards, certainly not as horrible as the examples I gave in my original post.
