Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

Girl at work wants to get an Ancient Egyptian hieroglyph. I have repeatedly asked why. She can't really explain, and isn't toally sure what it means - she saw it on a catalogue of tattoos.
From my point of view, if you can't really explain why you want a particular symbol other than 'it looks nice', and you don't really know what it means, branding it on your flesh for the rest of your days is not a great idea.

Also about mixing cultures. A girl I know was a Taurean, and she had a tattoo to signify this, on her shoulder. Alas it was a Chinese character.
In the Chinese restaurant later that year, she wondered why the two waiters kept looking at her sideways and whispering to themselves. Until at paying-up time, one of them asked. "Please, why do you have the word "COW" tattooed on your shoulder?"
