This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

I crowbar this one into a lot of QOTWs
The use of 'myself' rather than 'I' or 'me' in an attempt to sound educated. You don't sound educated; you're just wrong.

I find that Estate Agents seem to use it a lot.
"If you could just wait for a call from myself..."

"Once you've signed that, if you could pass it back to myself to sign it..."

Argh!
