I like writing letters of complaint to companies containing the words "premier league muppetry", if only to give the poor office workers a good laugh on an otherwise dull day. Have you ever complained? Did it work?

Why do the crew need the engine running when on standby? Sounds like it has the makings of a reasonable complaint to me

Well:
If it's cold weather, running the heater is reasonable.
Plus, you should keep the battery topped up: Equipment like the Mobile Data Terminal and Two-Way Radio all drain power. Don't assume that 'Ambulance Service owned' means properly serviced and specced vehicles.
